New Child Fare Age Range Starting 1st October 2019
Kuala Lumpur, 30th September 2019 – Express Rail Link Sdn Bhd (ERL) announced its new Child fare age range on the KLIA Ekspres and KLIA Transit services today. This is the first revision since ERL commenced operations 17 years ago.
From 1st October 2019, children below 6 years old (previously below 2 years) can travel for free when accompanied by a fare paying adult passenger. Each adult passenger can bring along a maximum of three children to enjoy the free travel.
This age revision also benefits older children. Whereas previously children were charged Adult fares from 13 years old, they are now charged Adult fares only if they are 16 years old or older. Children aged 6 to 15 years old will now pay only the Child fare.
There are no changes to the fares but only to the applicable ages for each age category.
Age Category | Fare | Up to 30th September 2019 | Revised, effective 1st October 2019 |
Child | Free | Below 2 years | Below 6 years |
Child | No fare change | 2 to 12 years | 6 to 15 years |
Adult | No fare change | 13 years and above | 16 years and above |
In her statement, Chief Executive Officer of ERL, Noormah Mohd Noor said, “We are happy to share this exciting news with everyone, especially those with families. This new Child fare age range will allow more families to enjoy travelling together at a lower cost, on either the KLIA Ekspres or KLIA Transit. By increasing the age range of our Child fares, a greater number of children can travel for free, or pay only the Child fare whereas they currently have to pay the Adult fare. It’s no surprise that everyone now wants to be a kid!”
