ERL & AREX Launch First of Its Kind Airport Rail Bundle Package

Kuala Lumpur, 23rd July 2024 – Express Rail Link Sdn Bhd (ERL) and AREX Airport Railroad Co. Ltd (AREX) today signed a partnership agreement to provide a seamless purchase experience and inter-modality travel experience for passengers traveling to and from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and Incheon, South Korea.  Under this partnership, passengers travelling to and from Kuala Lumpur and Incheon are able to purchase bundled ERL & AREX train tickets on Klook in just one transaction. This will significantly enhance passengers experience when they are travelling abroad as the airport transfer arrangements are taken care of before they fly, eliminating the hassle of looking for transport to get to the city when they arrive.

Aside from offering the bundled train tickets, ERL hoped this partnership will initiate the establishment of an alliance amongst dedicated airport rail operators, with objectives similar to an airline alliance such as OneWorld and Star Alliance. With the formation of an alliance, there will be opportunity for alliance members to cross advertise, offer exclusive benefit to passengers while promoting sustainable travel. “Currently, there are more than 25 dedicated air rail services in the world. This number is sufficient for airport rail operators to form an alliance that is similar to an airline alliance. We are motivated to reach out to other operators for this alliance to materialize in the near future,” said Noormah Mohd Noor, Chief Executive Officer of ERL at the signing ceremony.

“We would also like to thank AREX for their commitment in ensuring the success of this partnership. Through this partnership we hope to tap into the Korean market and create more awareness on our train services when planning for their travel to Kuala Lumpur. Korean tourists can now enjoy a seamless and efficient transfer from the airport to the city center, enhancing their overall travel experience,” she continued.  Kim Jong-dae, CEO of AREX said, "We look forward to sharing each other's strengths and know-how and providing more convenient railway services to travelers traveling between the two countries through close cooperation in various fields."

Present during the partnership signing ceremony were Noormah Mohd Noor, CEO of ERL and Kim Jongdae, CEO of AREX. The event was also witnessed by His Excellency Yeo Seung-bae, Ambassador of Republic of Korea to Malaysia. Yeo Seung-bae, Ambassador of Republic of Korea to Malaysia, added, “This agreement will further solidify the relationship between our two countries and serve as a crucial step in enhancing the quality of railway services.”

The delegates from AREX were later taken to visit ERL’s in-town flight check-in facility at KL Sentral. Currently there are 3 flights operating from KL Sentral which are Malaysia Airlines, Batik Air and Cathay Pacific. Self-service check-in kiosks are also available for passengers flying with Malaysia Airlines, Batik Air, KLM or Ethiopian Air.

ERL & AREX Bundle Package is already available for sale beginning 15 July 2024 at klook.com. To mark the launch of the partnership, ERL & AREX is offering a promotion of 10% discount at RM71.65 for a KLIA Ekspres & AREX One Way Adult Ticket.
