New Campaign To Boost Domestic Tourism

Kuala Lumpur, 29^th April 2022 – Express Rail Link Sdn Bhd (ERL) today launches a new Jom Cuti-Cuti Malaysia promotion exclusively for Malaysians in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) and Tourism Malaysia under the Tourism Recovery Plan 2022 (PRE 2.0).

The promotion offers a RM10 saving on KLIA Ekspres airport transfer for Malaysians who are flying through KLIA or KLIA2 on domestic flights from today until 30^th November 2022. They can register online to be eligible for the discount, and present proof of MyKad/MyKid and domestic flight ticket for each passenger at the ticket counter for verification before boarding the train.

Noormah Mohd Noor, Chief Executive Officer of ERL said, “We are thrilled to be given the opportunity to collaborate with MOTAC and Tourism Malaysia in support of the government’s initiative to boost the country’s domestic tourism. Like many travel-related businesses, ERL has been severely affected by the pandemic. We have gradually increased our train services since January to meet the growing demand from our daily commuters as well as air travellers. Thankfully, our ridership has increased by 36% in the first quarter of 2022, compared to the last quarter in 2021. This has further increased by another 13% in April so far since the reopening of our international borders, so we are hopeful that our new initiatives and collaborations with partners will help grow back the ridership to pre-pandemic levels soon.”

ERL is prioritising collaborations with strategic partners and focusing on customer experience improvements as it commemorates its 20^th year of service this year. Customers can enjoy ongoing promotions with selected payment solution providers or on partner platforms. Besides increasing the train frequency, ERL has also introduced improvements such as train seat refurbishment, KLIA Ekspres app enhancements and allowing cyclists to take bicycles onboard the train (currently, only foldable bikes are allowed) on the weekends.

The Jom Cuti-Cuti Malaysia offer is limited to the first 24,875 registered customers and each customer is limited to a one-time discount of RM10 throughout the campaign period. The RM10 discount is applicable for Standard Single and Return Fares, Family Package, Group Saver and KL TravelPass packages. Tickets can be purchased online or at the designated ticket counters. While advance online purchase and registration is strongly encouraged, walk-in customers can also register for the offer at the ticket counter before purchasing their tickets.
