Staff greeted by family members and colleagues
Kuala Lumpur, 20th August 2019 – Express Rail Link Sdn Bhd (ERL) today welcomed back its 28 staff who were sent to Saudi Arabia on 20th June 2019 after 2 months of providing operational support for the Al Mashaaer Al Muqadassah Metro or Makkah Metro during the Hajj season in a welcoming home session at Arrival Hall, Level 3, KLIA.
All 28 staff of ERL and ERL Maintenance Support Sdn Bhd (E-MAS) touched down safely in KLIA and were welcomed by Noormah Mohd Noor, Chief Executive Officer of ERL, Thomas Baake, Chief Executive Officer of E-MAS, ERL and E-MAS staff and most importantly, their family members.
This is the eighth year that ERL has been given the opportunity to become a part of the Makkah Metro operation that only operates seven days a year during the Hajj season. Connected to Makkah, Arafah, Muzdalifa and Mina, this rail service provides pilgrims with a safer and more comfortable pilgrimage.
In her speech, Noormah expressed her gratitude, “I would like to welcome everyone back and I am grateful that everyone is safe and healthy. We understand that being away from your families for 2 months is difficult and that this is a huge responsibility but I am proud to say that everyone did a good job. We hope that next year, we will be given the opportunity to support the Makkah Metro line again.”
Manpower Requirements
• 28 staff members and ERL were seconded to support the Makkah Metro Line operations this year for more than 2 months. The position that they were assigned included: Deputy Station Manager, Station Master, Assistant Station Master and Station Control Room Agent. They departed for Saudi Arabia on 20th June 2019 and returned Malaysia on 20th August 2019.
