ERL Train Services Remain Suspended During Extended Movement Control Order Period

Kuala Lumpur, 10th April 2020 – Following the announcement made today by Prime Minister YAB Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin on the extension of the Movement Control Order (MCO) period to 28th April 2020, Express Rail Link Sdn Bhd (ERL) would like to confirm that its train services will remain temporarily suspended until the last day of the Movement Control Order (MCO) extended period.

Once the MCO is lifted, ERL will immediately introduce a new schedule to provide vital train services for commuters and air travellers. Details of the revised train times will be made available on its website, www.KLIAekspres.com, at least three days before the end of the MCO period.

With the COVID-19 pandemic causing a complete halt of all air travel and closing almost all offices and services, ERL’s passenger ridership has decreased to very low numbers during the first phase of the MCO from 18th to 31st March 2020.

In order to ensure that ERL can continue to provide services to all its passengers once the MCO is lifted, the company has consulted with the relevant authorities and decided to temporarily suspend its services from 4th April 2020 for the duration of the MCO extended period.

ERL apologises for the inconvenience caused, and passengers are advised to make alternative arrangements for their transportation. Passengers can submit any unused tickets for refund through ERL’s Customer Enquiry.

In other parts of the world, dedicated air-rail operators that have also suspended their services currently are the City Airport Train in Vienna, Rhonexpress in Lyon, Gatwick Express in London, Gautrain in Johannesburg, and Airport Express Line in New Delhi.
