Express Rail Link Receives International Recognition At The Global AirRail Awards 2019

ERL Receives Partnership of the Year Award in Vienna For Its Partnership Initiatives

Kuala Lumpur, 4th November 2019 – Express Rail Link Sdn. Bhd. (ERL) has picked up the Partnership of the Year Award at the annual Global AirRail Awards held in Vienna for its efforts in expanding its sales platform and customer base worldwide.

Noormah Mohd Noor, Chief Executive Officer of ERL, said, “We are honoured to be recognised by our global peers and we couldn’t have done it without the commitment and support of our partners and mutual customers. We embarked on our aggressive digital partnership drive in 2017 with only three partners. Today, we have forged partnerships with more than 40 online travel agents, global distributors, aggregators, e-commerce platforms, airlines, corporate companies and mobile wallet providers among others. We are on track to meet our target of 80 partners by Q4 of 2020.”

“Partnerships on the global platform help improve our visibility and make the KLIA Ekspres tickets available anytime, anywhere to travellers worldwide who are planning for their Malaysian adventure. We are definitely excited to welcome more of them onboard the KLIA Ekspres in the coming year to complement efforts to fulfil the Visit Malaysia 2020 target of 30 million international tourists,” she added.

Noormah was joined by Thomas Baake, the Chief Executive of ERL Maintenance Support Sdn Bhd (E-MAS) in receiving the award in Vienna, the capital city of Austria, on 31st October 2019 following a successful Global AirRail Conference organised by Global AirRail Alliance (GARA). GARA is a London-based industry organisation that promotes rail access to airports, discusses policy guidelines and recommendations for greater air and rail integration.

The conference and awards were hosted by Vienna’s City Airport Train (CAT) and ÖBB, Austria’s largest mobility services provider. Judges for the awards are professionals in the air and rail industries.

“Connecting a railway station with an airport, bringing airport amenities to the city rail terminal, providing joint passenger information or seamless airline/railway journey planning and booking – all this seamless air and rail integration requires close cooperation, transparent communication with stakeholders and an open mind for innovation. The goal of the Global AirRail Awards is to recognise the best in air-rail, and to build awareness of the many projects and partnerships that are being developed to create a truly seamless intermodal travel experience,” Milda Manomaityte, Director of GARA said.
