Sepang, 30th April 2014 – The Honourable Acting Minister of Transport, YB Dato’ Seri Hishammuddin bin Tun Hussein, today visited the KLIA2 transport hub to check on the operational readiness of the public transport operators.
With a journey time of only 33 minutes between KL Sentral and KLIA2, the KLIA Ekspres train service will be the fastest airport transfer for passengers using the new airport terminal.
Beginning his site visit with a train ride from Putrajaya on the KLIA Transit train, the Minister arrived in KLIA2 Station and was greeted by the Executive Chairman of Express Rail Link Sdn Bhd (ERL) Dato Sri Mohd Nadzmi Bin Mohd Salleh. YB Dato Seri Hishammuddin then officially opened the Express Rail Link Station at KLIA2. Both the KLIA Ekspres and the KLIA Transit services have been extended to KLIA2, and will start commercial operations on 2nd May 2014 together with the opening of the KLIA2 airport terminal.

KLIA Ekspres
The KLIA Ekspres will still provide non-stop service from KL Sentral Station to KLIA Station in 28 minutes, and will then continue on to KLIA2 Station. The return journey will also be via KLIA Station. The total journey time from KL Sentral Station to KLIA2 Station is 33 minutes, with a two-minute stop in KLIA Station.
KLIA Transit
With the extension of services to KLIA2 Station, passengers and commuters staying around Bandar Tasik Selatan, Putrajaya, Cyberjaya, and Salak Tinggi will be able to travel to and from KLIA2 directly by train with ease and comfort, and faster than any other modes of road transport.
Passengers travelling to KLIA2 or KLIA will be charged the same fare of RM35, as both are considered terminals of the same airport. A fare of RM2 will be levied for travel between the terminals. However, monthly and weekly concession passes are available for airport and airline staff who travel frequently. Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) will also be providing complimentary shuttle bus services between the Long Term Car Park, KLIA and KLIA2.
