How It Works

KLIA Ekspres - Flight Check-in at KL Sentral

Step 1

At the KLIA Ekspres Departure Hall in KL Sentral Station, enter the check-in area with your KLIA Ekspres or KLIA Transit ticket.

Step 2

Scan your bags at the baggage scanning machine before heading to the check-in counter.

Step 3

Check in for your flight and collect your boarding pass. If you have already checked in online, you can drop your bags at the check-in counter.

Step 4

Your bags will be tagged to your final destination and transferred to your flight at KLIA Terminal 1. 

Using the Self-Service Baggage Drop kiosks at KL

Step 1

Check in online or at the airline self-service check-in kiosk at KL Sentral.

Step 2

Proceed to the Self-Service Baggage Drop kiosks.
    

Step 3

Scan your boarding pass and print your baggage tag.
    

Step 4

Attach the tag and place your luggage on the conveyor. Your baggage will be transferred directly to your flight at KLIA Terminal 1.

    • Counter operation hours:
      • Malaysia Airlines, from 6:00 am to 10:00 pm daily
      • Batik Air, from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm daily

    • The service is offered by Malaysia Airlines and Batik Air for their passengers.

  2. Can I use the flight check-in facility without taking the train?
    • You need to have a valid KLIA Ekspres or KLIA Transit train ticket for the airport sector (purchase through kiosk, website or app) to access the flight check-in area.

  3. Are there any additional charges to use the check-in service at KL Sentral?
    • There are no additional charges for the service.

  4. What other forms of tickets can be used for check-in?
    • Any form of ERL tickets (contactless, QR code) bound to KLIA T1/T2 are accepted. However, once you enter, you cannot re-enter within 24 hours if you exit. If you haven’t used your trip, you may re-enter after 24 hours.

  5. Can I use my debit/credit card or Touch ‘n Go card at the gate to enter check-in area?
    • Yes, contactless debit/credit cards and Touch ‘n Go cards are accepted. The full fare is deducted upon entry, and you must board the train within 24 hours to avoid an additional charge. Re-entry to the check-in area is not allowed within 24 hours, after exiting.
    • If you travel to KLIA T1/T2 within 24 hours, no extra charge applies.
      For those who uses Touch ‘n Go card, must ensure that they complete the journey with KLIA Ekspres or KLIA Transit otherwise their Touch ‘n Go card cannot be used at other rail services.

  6. When do I check in for my flight?
    • For international and domestic flights, you are required to check in at least 2 hours before flight departure. Please contact your airline for the latest update on check-in policy and procedure.

  7. How early can I check in for my flight?
    • You can check in early at KL Sentral on the same day as your flight departure date. Please contact your airline for more information.

  8. My flight is at 10:00 am, what is the best time to check in at KL Sentral?
    • The cut-off time to check in at KL Sentral is 2 hours before the scheduled flight departure time. Nevertheless, you are advised to allocate sufficient time to travel from KL Sentral to your flight boarding gate at the airport (including Immigration and security clearance, and transfer to the Satellite Terminal).

  9. Can I check in my surfboard at KL Sentral?
    • You can check in oversized/out-of-gauge (OOG) baggage at KL Sentral. However, please note that some OOG items such as surfboards that exceed certain dimensions will not be accepted. You would need to contact your airline for the check-in policy and procedure.

  10. Can I use the in-town check-in facility if I hold a KLIA Transit concession ticket?
    • Yes, you can check in for your flight and drop your baggage at KL Sentral. Please proceed to the KLIA Transit Station afterwards to board the KLIA Transit train to the airport.

  11. Is there any flight check-in facility at your KLIA Transit station?
    • Flight check-in facility is only available at KL Sentral. There is no check-in facility at any of the KLIA Transit intermediate stations. KLIA Transit passengers at the intermediate stations are required to check-in upon arrival at the airport.

Self - Service Bag Drop

  1. Can I use the Self-Service Baggage Drop without taking the train?
    • No, you cannot use the service without the ticket train. You need a valid KLIA Ekspres or KLIA Transit train ticket for the airport sector (purchase through kiosk, website or app) to access the flight check-in area.

  2. Do I need to check in before using the Self-Service Baggage Drop?
    • Yes, flight check-in must be completed online or at the self-check-in kiosk before using the SSBD kiosks.

  3. Which airlines support the Self-Service Baggage Drop?
    • This service is available for Malaysia Airlines and Batik Air passengers only.

  4. What type of baggage can I drop using this service?
    • Only standard checked baggage is accepted. Oversized, special, excess or fragile items must be handled by the airline’s staff at the counter.

  5. Is there a baggage cut-off time at KL Sentral?
    • Baggage acceptance is subject to airline check-in cut-off times. Passengers are advised to arrive early to allow sufficient time for baggage drop and travel to the airport.

  6. What should I do if my bag is rejected by the kiosk?
    • Please refer to the airline staff at the check- in counter for assistance.
