Donation Benefits Two Hundred Underprivileged Students in Dengkil
Kuala Lumpur, 30th September 2021 – The employees of Express Rail Link Sdn Bhd (ERL) and its subsidiary, ERL Maintenance Support Sdn Bhd (E-MAS) came forward to contribute to ERL’s food basket programme in support of the government’s efforts to alleviate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on society.
The donation benefits two hundred (200) underprivileged students from Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Dengkil in Selangor whose families fall under the B40 household income group. Each food basket contains essential items such as rice, cooking oil, sugar, noodles and face masks.
During the food basket distribution at the school today, ERL’s Chief Executive Officer, Noormah Mohd Noor said, “Despite the tough challenges that our company is facing due to this pandemic, our staff felt compelled to give back and support the most vulnerable in our community. I am truly humbled by their generosity and compassion which reflects the spirit of Keluarga Malaysia that our Prime Minister encourages us all to embrace. I sincerely hope that our small donation for these students and their families can ease their burden a bit.”
Also present during the distribution at the school was its Principal, Puan Salina Binti Kamsari. In view of the current restrictions under Phase 2 of the National Recovery Plan, a drive-through distribution of the food baskets to the eligible students and their guardians was done to minimise contact.
ERL and E-MAS employees previously volunteered at the school in 2018 for a Frog Classroom Makeover Project which was used by the students and teachers for their Virtual Learning Environment programme. For this food basket programme, a number of ERL and E-MAS staff once again volunteered to help with the donation drive and logistics.
