Surprise Celebration Onboard KLIA Ekspres Train
Kuala Lumpur, 25th July 2019 – Express Rail Link Sdn Bhd (ERL), the operator of the KLIA Ekspres and KLIA Transit services, celebrated a significant milestone as it welcomed its 100 millionth passenger onboard the KLIA Ekspres today.
It was a truly memorable day for all the passengers onboard the KL Sentral-bound train which departed from KLIA at 11:00 am. Amidst the celebratory balloon decorations, onboard announcements and excited chatter, passengers rummaged through their goodie bags which were distributed upon departure for the winning ticket number.
The winner was presented with the grand prize of a trip for two to Japan, inclusive of flight tickets, accommodation and ground experiences worth RM10,000. Other passengers did not leave empty handed either as they also received a Klook voucher to book travel activities and services, gifts and snacks.
Following the launch of its train services in 2002, ERL carried 1.04 million passengers within its first year of operations. It celebrated its 50 millionth passenger in 2014 just before the services were extended to KLIA2. By August 2016, ERL had recorded 75 million passengers on both services and has been carrying an average of 9 million passengers yearly since then.

The grand prize and vouchers were sponsored by ERL’s event partner and strong valued business partner, Klook, a leading travel activities and services booking platform with more than 100,000 things-to-do across 300 destinations. Its Head of Marketing in Malaysia, Emily Tan was also onboard to congratulate the lucky winner.
Joining the celebration was the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia, YB Tuan Muhammad Bakhtiar bin Wan Chik who presented the grand prize to the winner onboard the train.
