#KLIAekspres20 Design Contest

1. The #KLIAekspres20 Design Contest (hereinafter referred to as “Contest”) is organised by Express Rail Link Sdn Bhd (“ERL”), Company No. 199601003493 (375839-H) and business office at Level 2, KL City Air Terminal, KL Sentral Station, 50470 Kuala Lumpur. 

Entry Requirements

1. The Contest is conducted online starting from 12:00 noon (GMT +8) on 1 March 2022 until 11:59 pm (GMT +8) on 8 April 2022 (“Contest Period”).
2. The Contest is open to all residents of Malaysia aged 18 years and above and have a valid identification document (“Participant”). Employees of ERL and its subsidiary (except the Contest committee members), vendors, agencies and immediate family members are also eligible to join the Contest.
3. Participants who are below 18 years old are allowed to enter the Contest with the consent of their parent or guardian. Please refer to the parental consent section in the submission form.
4. No purchase or any other fee payment is required to participate in the Contest.
5. All entries must be submitted via email. Please refer to the ‘How to Participate’ section below.
6. By participating in the Contest, the Participant is deemed to have fully read and agreed to be bound by the Terms and Conditions stated herein.
7. ERL reserves the right to cancel this Contest or amend the Terms and Conditions at any time at its discretion, if deemed necessary in its opinion, or if circumstances arise outside its control. If there is a revision, the revision will be published on its website, www.KLIAekspres.com and other suitable platforms.

How to Participate

1. ERL invites all Participants to join the Contest by submitting their design online. The design template can be downloaded at

2. The design elements may include colours, motifs/patterns and lines. The design may cover the exterior body of the train and even the space beyond the train outline as long as it is within the purple frame. The design can partially cover the “20TH ANNIVERSARY” text design. The text design must not be distorted, modified or removed.
3. The design must be submitted digitally in PDF or JPG format, 300 dpi and file size not exceeding 5MB.
4. Participants can submit multiple designs. Please include these particulars for each submission:
   1. Full Name (as in MyKad or passport)
   2. Contact Number
   3. Email Address
   4. Design Rationale/Explanation
5. All entries must be submitted via email to Contest@KLIAekspres.com. The deadline for receiving entries is 11:59 pm (GMT +8) on 8 April 2022.
6. Proof of sending is not proof of receipt. All entries received outside the Contest Period will not be accepted or entertained.
7. No responsibility is accepted for ineligible entries or entries made fraudulently.

Winner Selection and Notification

1.  Judging will be done based on the following criteria:
   1. Creativity, uniqueness and originality
   2. Relevance to the anniversary celebration
   3. Fits product/brand identity
   4. Rationale of the design – a text statement (in not more than 200 words in English or Bahasa Malaysia) explaining the design concept/story and elements
2. The Participant with the best design, as established by the judges, will be selected as the grand prize winner.
3. Consolation prizes will be awarded to twenty next best designs, based on the judging scores.
4. All decisions made by ERL and the panel of judges are binding and final, and no correspondence will be entertained.
5. The winning designs will be featured in the winners’ announcement post on ERL’s social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram and Twitter as well as on its website.
6. ERL reserves the absolute right to select and award the prize to an alternate winner should it find reasonable grounds to believe that a Participant has acted in a way which is inconsistent and contrary with these Terms and Conditions or has acted in a way which ERL considers to be inappropriate, unlawful or offensive.
7. All the winners will be notified by email or phone by ERL and are required to collect their prizes at ERL’s office. If the prize is not collected within 1 month* of notification, the prize is forfeited and ERL shall select another winner (* subject to the government’s National Recovery Plan (NRP) status).

Prize

1. The prizes are:
   1. One (x1) Grand Prize: A KLIA Ekspres model train worth RM550, RM200 cash & 30,000 EkspreSmiles points
   2. Twenty (x20) Consolation Prizes: RM50 cash & 10,000 EkspreSmiles points for each winner
2. The prize must be taken as stated and cannot be transferred or exchanged for (additional) cash or other goods/services. The winners are liable to pay taxes if applicable.
3. To receive the EkspreSmiles points, the winner must first register as an EkspreSmiles member within 10 working days of the winners’ announcement. Once registered, the winner must notify ERL by email. The EkspreSmiles will be duly credited to the winner’s account within 10 working days upon receiving the email notification.
4. All prizes are strictly for the winners’ personal use. Winners are not allowed to resell or use their prize for any commercial purpose. ERL reserves the right to forfeit the EkspreSmiles points if the winner is found misusing the points.
5. ERL reserves the right to void the prize even after it is awarded if the winner is found not complying with the Terms and Conditions of this Contest.
6. ERL reserves the right to substitute prizes of equal or greater value without prior notice if the prizes cannot be awarded as described for any reason whatsoever.

Intellectual Property Rights 

1. All Contest entries must be the original work of the Participants and must not breach any copyright or third party rights. ERL will not be made partially or fully liable for any non-original work submitted by the Participants.
2. The design must be suitable for public viewing. The design must not include any defamatory, offensive or unlawful content.
3. In entering the Contest, any intellectual property rights including but not limited to copyright and design rights in the artwork and the description of the design provided by the Grand Prize Winner are transferred to and shall belong to ERL from the point at which the Contest entries are submitted to ERL. The original work as well as any alterations and adaptations may be used by ERL or its affiliates in marketing material irrespective of medium and form. The Grand Prize Winner will not receive any royalties in such cases.
4. The Grand Prize Winner is not allowed to use, publish, promote or advertise the design in any media for commercial purposes. However, the Grand Prize Winner may display it in his/her own personal media.

Additional Terms and Conditions

1. ERL reserves the right to disqualify any illegible or incomplete entries, as well as those that do not comply with the Terms and Conditions of the Contest.
2. All costs, fees and/or expenses incurred or to be incurred by the winners in relation to the Contest and/or to claim the prizes including but not limited to the costs of transportation, courier, insurance, meals and any other costs, fees or taxes are the sole responsibility of the winners.
3. Participants and winners shall assume full liability and responsibility in case of any liability, mishap, injury, loss, damage, claim or accident (including personal injury and/or death) resulting from their participation in the Contest, redemption and/or usage of the prizes.
4. ERL will not be responsible for any damage, loss and/or injury arising from the use of the prizes or provide any warranty on the prizes, except as obligated under our Conditions of Carriage.
5. These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of Malaysia and the courts of Malaysia shall have non-exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or in relation to the Contest or these terms and conditions.
6. Winners are deemed to have given their consent and authorisation to ERL to publish or display their names or photos in the media, publicity materials and ERL’s website for the purpose of this Contest (where applicable) in any form, without prior notice or compensation.
7. Ticketing, if applicable, is subject to all applicable laws and regulations, and also to the terms and conditions specified in ERL’s Conditions of Carriage. A copy of ERL’s Conditions of Carriage is available at its ticket counters and on its website www.KLIAekspres.com. By participating in this promotion, users agree to abide by ERL’s prevailing ticket fares and Conditions of Carriage.
8. ERL does not hold any responsibility for network, computer or software failures of any kind which may restrict or delay the sending or receipt of your e-mail. Proof of sending is not a proof of an e-mail receipt.
9. ERL is not liable for any loss arising from the postponement, cancellation, delay or change to the prize or for any act or default from any third party supplier. Any questions or queries regarding the Contest should be sent to Contest@KLIAekspres.com  or call +603 2267 8000.

Privacy Policy

1. ERL collects Participants’ personal details for the purpose of administering this Contest, and will use and process the information in accordance with our Privacy Policy and the Personal Data Protection Act 2010.
2. ERL reserves the right to photograph and publish and/or use the Participants’ designs, and photographs of the winners and their designs at any time and in any form without prior notice, consent or compensation.
